BrightBox Privacy Policy

BrightBox Privacy Policy

Effective date: November 9, 2025

BrightBox is a children’s learning app for families. We designed BrightBox so kids can practice early skills without creating an account or sharing unnecessary personal information. This policy explains what we (and our service providers) handle, why, and how you can contact us.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not show third-party ads in the kids experience.

  • We do not sell personal data.

  • We do not use third-party tracking in the kids experience.

Information We Handle

We aim to minimize data. Depending on how you use BrightBox, we may handle:

  • On-device learning progress. Basic activity data (e.g., topics practiced, usage time) is stored on the device so parents can see progress.

  • Voice/AI features (optional, parent-enabled). If enabled, short text snippets (what a child says and the app’s reply) may be sent securely to service providers only to generate a response. We do not attach persistent identifiers for advertising purposes.

  • Parental contact. If you email us or submit a support request, we’ll receive your message and any contact details you provide.

  • Diagnostics (optional). If a parent shares a screenshot, crash log, or diagnostics for support, we’ll use it only to troubleshoot.

We do not ask children to create accounts or provide names, emails, or precise locations in the kids experience.

How We Use Information

  • To provide educational prompts, voice responses, and core app functionality

  • To show parents usage history and manage parent settings

  • To keep the service reliable, secure, and improve the experience

  • To respond to support requests from parents/guardians

Parental Gate & Safety

Purchases and external links (like Privacy, Terms, Support) are behind a parental passcode created in the app. This is an app-specific passcode—not device biometrics or the device passcode.

Service Providers (Processors)

To power certain features, we use reputable providers that process data only to deliver the requested service and under confidentiality obligations. These may include:

  • AI/Voice processing to generate short educational replies and/or synthetic speech

  • Analytics limited to the parent area (if enabled by a parent) to understand feature usage and improve quality

All transmissions use HTTPS. We do not allow service providers to use data for advertising.

Note: Our list of service providers may change as we improve the app. If we make material changes to how data is handled, we will update this policy.

Data Retention & Controls

  • On-device history: Parents can clear chat/usage history at any time from the Parents area.

  • Server-side processing: Text sent for AI/voice features is processed to return a response and is not kept for advertising.

  • Support messages: Emails you send us are retained as needed to address your request and for legal/operational reasons.

Subscriptions & Purchases

Purchases are processed by Apple. You can manage or cancel at Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your device. “Restore Purchases” is available in the Parents area.

Children’s Privacy

BrightBox is built for families and follows Apple’s Kids Category rules. We encourage use under a parent/guardian’s supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal contact information from children in the kids experience.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), least-privilege access, and secure key storage for sensitive settings.

Your Choices

  • Turn off microphone access in iOS Settings to disable voice features.

  • Clear on-device history anytime in the Parents area.

  • Contact us to ask questions about this policy or our data practices.

International Transfers

Service providers may process data in the United States or other countries. We take steps to protect data consistent with this policy wherever it’s processed.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as our features evolve. We’ll change the “Effective date” above and, where required, notify parents within the app or on our website.
